Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Whiteside, Thursday

Whiteside Theatre will be going wild. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival will be returning to the Whiteside Theatre on Thursday, November 13. Presented by the Corvallis Environmental Center, the festival showcases films that inspire a love of nature from our region and around the world.

The festival features ten films on topics ranging from conservation to outdoor sports. The full program is on the Corvallis Environmental Center website.

2025 marks the 23rd year of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, and ten years since it arrived in Corvallis. The idea of bringing the festival to Corvallis came from Deanna Lloyd, who worked for the Corvallis Environmental Center at the time.

“The benefit of the film festival format is that you can incorporate a lot of different types of films covering different topics, and having different vibes or energies,” said Lloyd, who has also been on the film selection committee for all ten festivals.

Lloyd said the goal of the festival was to bring community members together around the theme of the environment. Some of the films selected look at issues relevant to the local community, while others offer a look at places and cultures across the globe.

“It’s really fun to see what follow-up conversations are inspired by them,” Lloyd said.

All proceeds from the festival will go to the Corvallis Environmental Center’s “Food for Families” program, growing fruits and vegetables at Starker Arts Garden for Education for community members, and to providing scholarships for the center’s youth programs.

The flagship festival is held annually in two neighboring Sierra communities, Nevada City and Grass Valley, California, with the festival going on tour to over 100 cities and towns nationwide.
