Property taxes and local government budgets will be up for discussion at City Club’s monthly lunch program, Monday March 11, from 12-1:15 pm.
How can cities cover expenses when property taxes fail to make ends meet? Corvallis City Council is considering public safety taxes; some cities have explored fees as an alternative revenue source.
City Club will address these issues on Monday with invited speakers, discussion, and Q&A. The first speaker is from the City of Corvallis: Nancy Brewer, Finance Director, will discuss the city’s current fiscal outlook and the 2014 budget process.
The second speaker is from the League of Oregon Cities: this speaker will address local government fiscal health across the state.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Catered lunch is available for $10. City Club meets in the Banquet Room of the Renaissance Building, 136 SW Washington St.
Registration and City Club information available at http://www.cityclubofcorvallis.org/.
