Proud Ukrainian Misha Ziryananov will soon leave Corvallis to offer aid to his home country in their time of need.
Ziryananov and his wife, Hannah Bittner, who he met in Ukraine while she taught English there, and later relocated to Oregon. After watching Russia’s attacks on Ukraine in the news, he decided to travel back to his home to help his people for a few weeks.
“Medical supplies and some personal protective equipment for soldiers,” he told KLCC. “We have found the organization in our city, which takes care of their soldiers.”
Bittner says she is proud of her partner, and of Oregonians who have shown their support for Ukraine. “It sounds trite to say every bit counts, but it actually does,” she said.
Bittner says that she appreciates every dollar, every protestor, and ever call to Oregon representatives. “Everybody can do something.”
Although Ziryananov’s travels are scheduled to last two weeks, the trip could be prolonged.
