Tarsa Weikert Announces Bid to Replace Lewis on Corvallis City Council, Ward 2

Tarsa Weikert has filed as a Corvallis City Council candidate in Ward 2, there had been scuttlebutt for months that she would pursue the seat now occupied by Briae Lewis.

Weikert currently serves as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Corvallis and as a Benton County Democrat Precinct Committee Person and is a 2026 graduate of Leadership Corvallis. Professionally, she works as a paralegal and office manager at a local law firm, a role she says demands a level of precision, ethics, and follow-through that she will bring to public service.

The incumbent, Lewis, is serving her second term, and has made no official announcement about running again. In 2024, Lewis was challenged from the left by Dylan de Honor. At press time, the City website does not show her as having filed to run again.

Weikert’s platform

Weikert is pledging to bring  transparent and responsive brand of leadership, and a renewed commitment to community engagement to City Hall. She offers a platform built on four priorities.

A stronger downtown economy: Supporting policies that strengthen local businesses, encourage sustainable economic growth, and foster a vibrant downtown that benefits residents, workers, entrepreneurs, and visitors.

Deliberative democracy and civic engagement: Reducing barriers to participation in local government, expanding opportunities for public input, and building stronger trust through openness and genuine dialogue.

Housing for every stage of life: Supporting a diverse range of housing options for students, working families, seniors, and longtime residents as housing affordability continues to challenge communities across Oregon.

Safer streets: Improving road design, signage, and infrastructure to reduce preventable crashes and protect pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers across Ward 2 and the broader city.

“A healthy democracy depends on engaged citizens willing to step forward and serve,” Weikert said. “I am running for office because I believe there is no better use of my time than to show up for my community and help encourage its growth through public participation and informed decision-making.”

“Corvallis deserves leadership that is transparent, ethical and in alignment with the voices of its residents,” Weikert said. “I’m asking my neighbors in Ward 2 to join me in building our future together.”
